Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 03:17PM So, I recently started the P90x workout, and it is proably the hardest workout in my life. If you have never done it, just go outside and walk in front of the first truck you see, and you will experience the pain that I feel right now. It has workouts like plyometrics - something I have never heard of, but has brought me the kind of pain that keeps me from getting out of my chair at work. It even hurts to roll over in bed. After all of this pain, it better ge me in shape! More details later...
Monday, June 8, 2009 at 02:34PM We are in the process of starting a new ministry at Dayspring geared toward serving college students, singles, and military personnel. In the process of starting this, I have been amazed at the level of enthusiasm we have had for this idea.
It appears that these groups have some similar unmet needs. There is the obvious “nothing to do here in Lawton” situation; something that a ministry can somewhat rectify, but only to a certain extent. Ministry is not necessarily an alternate for entertainment.
Also, there is the desire to gather with people who are like minded. This is the part I think I am the most excited about. I know there are people out there like myself who are single who want to be a part of a community of trust. This is a challenge to build and structure around, but might just be the most important thing we can do.
We kick off in the fall. More info later...

Joel D. Carter, 47, suffered four puncture wounds and a severe laceration Monday night and was taken to the Comanche County Memorial Hospital, Lawton police Lt. Larry Lafrance said. The elder Carter survived the attack and has been released from the hospital but initially refused to cooperate with police when asked to identify his assailant.
He said he was asleep when the attack occurred, police said.
Investigators later were told the attacker was Carter’s son.
"Started off as a verbal argument and escalated from there with a knife,” Lafrance said. "He (Joel Carter) got stabbed four times, but amazingly, didn’t hit anything vital. I doubt any felony charges will be filed, although I can’t say for certain what will happen.
"The father doesn’t want to press charges. It’s his son.”
Lafrance said Joel Carter told investigators the argument with his son started over bacon, but wasn’t sure about the details or context of the dispute.
